The Democratic Campaign Staff Training Problem — and Why It Keeps Coming Back

A one-time training push doesn't build a talent pipeline. Campaign staffers need to grow across multiple cycles, developing skills and experience that compound over time. That's not just a program. That's a career.

That’s where NDTC comes in. Since 2016, we've trained more than 125,000 Democrats — including more than 30,000 staffers — and we know what works. Now, we're building upon our impact: a $4 million investment over the next three years, beginning now, to train over 6,000 campaign staffers in 2026 alone.

This is the largest sustained investment in Democratic campaign staff training in the history of our party's ecosystem. And your future is the reason.

What $4 Million in Campaign Staff Training Actually Looks Like

This investment funds three core efforts:

Cohort-based training programs that bring campaign staff together to learn alongside peers doing the same work across the country — building skills and professional networks at the same time.

An expanded on-demand course library with dozens of classes available 24/7. Because people on campaigns work at midnight, not during business hours, and training has to meet them where they are.

Direct campaign outreach — not waiting to be found, but going to campaigns and asking: how can we help? Every race. Every community. Every cycle. Our Community Engagement team holds office hours? Link to email?

The field organizer in a state house district where no one outside that county is watching? Trained. The first-time finance director figuring out call time? Leveled up. The campaign manager with great instincts but no one to show them the fundamentals? Prepared.

All of it free. All of it ready. All of it built for the people doing this work right now.

Why the Decisions We Make in 2026 Determine 2028, 2030, and Beyond

2026 is a blue wave moment. But moments don't become movements without infrastructure.

The staffers we train this cycle are the field directors, finance directors, and campaign managers of 2028 and 2030. The relationships and community investment built in down-ballot races this November will be necessary when we're fighting for the Electoral College — and again in 2030 when redistricting determines the political map for the next decade.

That's how we win statewide in North Carolina, make Texas competitive, and build toward controlling the U.S. Senate. None of that is possible if we only show up in the races we already think we can win.

The talent pipeline doesn't build itself. It requires sustained investment now — and year after year — with the long view in mind.

If you're on a campaign, this was built for you — and it's free. Come get it.

If you want to work in Democratic politics but don't know where to start, we want you. Come find us.

We're not waiting for the wave. We're building the team that knows how to ride it.
