Hispanic Heritage Month AMA: Expanding Latino Leadership

Description

NDTC recognizes Hispanic Heritage Month with a virtual Ask Me Anything event spotlighting Latino activists, organizations, and leaders who are expanding civic participation in their communities. As the Latino community represents one of the most rapidly growing, diverse, and complex voting blocs in our country, our panelists will answer questions and share their strategies for breaking down barriers to emerging political engagement.

One of our featured panelists is Victoria McGroary, the Executive Director of BOLD PAC, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus's campaign arm, where she led efforts that grew the CHC to its largest size in history by bringing 15 new Latinos to Congress in 2022 - 2024, including Arizona's first Latino Senator.

We will also be joined by Eddie Taveras, who is the National Deputy Coalitions Director for the DNC. Taveras is a political strategist specializing in coalition-building, strategic communications, and legislative advocacy, with a track record of securing four state laws, securing $1.6 million in grants, and earning national media coverage in major national outlets.

Our third panelist is Irene Godinez, a proud North Carolinian of Mexican heritage who founded Founder and Co-Executive Director of Poder NC Action and Poder NC Education Fund, a nonprofit building political power with Latinx youth through innovative, culturally-rooted civic engagement. Godinez is passionate about narrative strategy, equity advocacy, and empowering BIPOC communities.
