Intro to Volunteer Recruitment and Management
90 minutes

Description
No campaign wins without volunteers. They knock doors, make calls, register voters, and cover the groundwork paid staff can't handle alone, especially on a tight budget. This course teaches volunteer recruitment from the ground up: where to find people willing to give their time, how to talk to them about getting involved, and how to turn a list of names into a team that shows up.
This course covers the volunteer management practices campaigns use to keep people engaged: assigning roles that match someone's skill sets, running trainings that prepare people for the work, and tracking volunteer data so you know who's active and who needs a check-in. You'll leave with a plan to recruit, train, and manage the volunteer teams your campaign needs to reach voters.
By the end of this course, you'll be able to:
Identify your campaign's volunteer needs by role and by phase of the campaign
Recruit volunteers using methods that fit your budget and timeline
Assign volunteers to roles that match their skills and availability
Run volunteer trainings that prepare people to do the work well
Hold 1:1 conversations with volunteers and volunteer leaders
Organize volunteers into teams with clear leadership and results
Track volunteer data to measure engagement and plan ahead
