This series of lessons in partnership with Contest Every Race is created to help local leaders and county party chairs run effective county parties, elect candidates, recruit volunteers, and engage members from cycle to cycle. As you are learning, Contest Every Race invites you to join the New Leaders Academy. This New Leaders Academy works across the country to recruit, train, and inspire engaged Democrats to join or start a Local Democratic Party. From weekly office hours, training sessions, and 1:1 coaching, we will answer your questions, dive into leading your community, and connect you with resources to become a New Leader. Course Description
If your dream is to work on a campaign, this course will help you decide what level of campaign you want to work on (e.g., state representative, U.S. Senate) and familiarize you with the organizational players you may encounter once you’re there. If your dream is to run for office, on the other hand, you’ll learn all about the Democratic ecosystem and the responsibilities you may have depending on the level of office that you run for. Either way, you need to understand the Democratic Party if you want to work within it!
- Understand the different offices of the Democratic Party
- Identify the functions of the different elected offices
